Weight loss, easily one of the biggest focus in today’s day and age.
You cannot open a magazine without seeing some article on weight loss. (Hey, you are reading one now!)
Most of us would agree that as a human race we are becoming more and more unhealthy.
Yes, we are living longer. We have a wonderful medical community to thank for that.
Why we pump so much money into trying to treat unhealthy people as opposed to preventing people from getting unhealthy in the first place is beyond me.
But hey, this is America.
A free country and we do whatever makes more money!
A lot of focus on weight, quick-fix diets and weight loss pills that zap away fat in 21 days – is a great way to make money.
This seems to be the reality we are witnessing today.
Any person with an idea, a new strategy, to help people lose weight has a winning recipe to make money.
We as the consumer are welcoming these new strategies with open hands and open wallets.
We are desperate and willing to try anything to help us lose the weight.
The problem is the “new” ideas, the “new” diets aren’t that different from the old ones.
All diets follow a simple process.
Consume less calories than used.
If this means telling people that carbs are off limits then so be it. If this means that the client should eat “low calorie” foods that we, the company, make… even better!
🤑Ka-ching!🤑
The problem is that the latest science and research is no good to you unless you are able to implement the strategy into your life on a continuous basis.
If you can’t implement the plan it doesn’t help you.
But seeing as this diet is a new diet based on new research we tell ourselves that this time it is going to be different.
This time it will work. This time it will stick.
How?
It just will!
Is this new program really different? It is the same strategy. Same idea just packaged differently.
I believe the reason why we keep on doing this — why we keep trying new diets, swearing that this time around it is going to be different -– is because we don’t know of any other alternatives.
I want to let you know that there is another way when it comes to weight loss.
(I am not talking about medical procedures – Don’t get me started on those)
I want to be honest with you, the alternative is hard work. It takes time. It takes effort, commitment, sacrifice.
It is a lot easier to keep trying different diets only to throw your hands in the air in hopelessness when it fails.
It is a lot easier to get a sleeve or some other procedure and be forced to stop eating or pay the consequences.
It is a lot easier to keep on trying different diets and live under the illusion that you are doing something different.
But the other way is going to bring you long lasting results in your weight loss journey and in your life.
The other way will give you tools that will not only allow you to achieve your results but will also help you achieve success in other areas of your life.
What is this other way?
Lifestyle Change.
Does that mean that I have to give up cake and ice cream for the rest of my life?
Not at all!!
Not even now!
The idea that you have to give up your favorite foods for the rest of your life is a misconception of what healthy eating means.
Carbs are not your enemy. In fact glucose (a component of carbohydrates) is the only energy source the brain can actually use.
For most people the problem with weight loss is not the types of foods they are consuming but rather the quantity of those foods.
Most people don’t eat because they want to supply the body with what it needs.
We eat because we like to eat! Am I right?!
We eat because it makes us feel good.
We eat because it helps us de-stress/escape.
We eat because it is our way of connecting to others.
Having a healthy life is about you controlling your intake of food not letting your food control how much you intake.
That means.. You can’t have 36 oz of ice cream every night and 10 slices of cake?
That does not mean you can’t have a delicious dessert at the end of a wonderful night out with your friends.
A lot of people tell me, “I can’t do this.”
“I can’t eat a little bit of this and that. It is all or nothing.”
I get it.
It is a lot easier to just tell yourself you can’t have any foods than to learn how to control yourself around food.
Reality is that nobody is perfect all the time.
With the all or nothing approach if you don’t do all of it you may as well do nothing.
When you’re “off day” comes it is “off with your – hard work.”
Life is constantly throwing you curveballs. It is constantly giving you more challenges to work with.
